First, Happy New Year!
I want to share the three questions I meditate over on this particular day, because I find it helps me find my “north” walking into a new year. And I think anyone can benefit from doing the same…
(Can be short and concise answers, or long journaled answers)
-
What mindset(s)/attitude(s)/connection(s) don’t serve me, and should be left behind from this new year?
-
What mindset(s)/attitude(s)/connection(s) do serve me in a healthy way, to bring (or) expand on in this new year?
What is one thing I want to learn (or) strengthen this year?
Wishing you an adventurous and growth-filled mindset! 🤍Hannah
2023 Recap & 2024 Intentions
2023 overall was a year of expansion, technique-wise! I finally settled into a new working/studio space, and broke my brain (in a good way) having learned the technique of “electro-etching”! A feeling of relief and excitement at the same time. Because of this technique, I can finally bring my illustrations into wearable pieces, with much more ease!
Yes, I definitely am still fine-tuning my use of the process, but overall I feel it’s a game-changer. Plus, it brings in another layer of fun “science-y stuff” to my studio 🤓 It all started when I took a weekend intensive at Snowfarm School in western, MA! I won’t elaborate on the process now, because I talk more about that here. But, here are some pics of that transformative weekend…
The quaint studio at Snowfarm, dedicated to jewelry fabrication. Each little studio is post and beam constructed, with signs of the many artisans before me.

process and setup. The bright blue liquid initially concerned me, though is (surprisingly) actually a relatively environmentally-safe 🌎solution to work with, and dispose of!
First successfully etched piece in my own studio setup! I submerged this piece half way to show before and after. The left is the before, with blue ink acting as a protective “mask” from being etched. The right is fully etched, with the pattern that was blue, now visible from only the “raw” areas having been etched away!
And one of my most recently etched pieces, as part of my Northeast Coast inspiration! Recycled brass etched, and framed on a copper background I textured with my pneumatic engraver!
All recently crafted pieces are available in my Etsy shop!
In this new year, I’m focusing on two things. I’m going to achieve stronger soldering skills, and I’m going to continue in creating continuity between all my pieces, as a way to relay my natural illustration and hand-crafting style… Maybe even allowing for some “signature” n’GRAINED designs to form 😁
Let’s be real. None of this would be possible without the ongoing support from all of you. Your support via likes, comments, shop purchases and sharing of my work to others, is the encouragement I need to believe I can continue making this more than a hobby. It will always be my meditation, working with my hands, but to do so with added benefits for others too…well that’s just awesome! T H A N K Y O U ❤️
Oh! Jake and I got engaged on Xmas Eve too 🥰
