Spring Sweep in the Shop

Spring Sweep in the Shop

There’s a certain kind of cleaning that happens this time of year.

Not the kind with checklists or bins—but the kind where you take a hard look at what’s been sitting in front of you… and decide what still feels true.

Last week I did just that. Not to make space for more—but to make space for better.

Some pieces stayed. Some didn’t.

Not because they weren’t well made—but because they no longer felt aligned with where my hands are going. Having 1 person connect with work I'm proud of is more important than 10 people seeing pieces that aren't "up to (my) snuff" anymore.

So, as I’ve spent more time at the bench (and honestly, as the cost of materials keeps rising), I’ve felt an even stronger pull to be more intentional with what I put out into the world...

What Remains...

Staples

Simple, grounded forms I personally come back to again and again—built to be worn daily, shaped by outdoor texture and worn out from love. [Trail-hardy Studs, Interchange Earrings, Gemstone Stacker rings...]

n’Capsules

Small, sealed moments.
Hand-painted outdoor treasures of time and place—meant to be kept close, like a quiet marker of where you’ve been or places to hold onto. [Now just two design styles and sizes]

Seasonal

Small studies in stillness, formation, and fleeting, seasonal, detail.
Crafting in newer signature forms, like Curio and Terrain.

Here are the most recently crafted.

Some Quiet Shifts

In tandem with the inventory sweep, I gave the navigation of the online shop a little bit of a dusting!

You can find pieces three ways now! You can use the search. You can view by type (in the main menu). And you can view by collections, like n'Capsule (via clickable spotlights on the homepage).

I also added two gallery-style pages that I'll periodically add to. One – showing a blend of past and custom pieces. The second – snippets from my nature journal pages!

Both feel important to take up space on the n'Grained site – so much of it directly influences my next pieces...

Why it Matters

This wasn’t about clearing inventory.

It was about setting a (good) standard. For myself.

Every piece that remains is now something I’d make again – Something that feels like it carries the right kind of weight in both in material and meaning.

Spring always brings a bit of a reset with it. And for me, at the bench, that doesn't look like starting over – it's a refining of what I already have. And if you've been a 'Grainer' friend for awhile, you may notice the shift. But if you're new here, this is a good place to start. --> EXPLORE WHAT REMAINS
